Ivory 2 Users: Question

Post by Shooshie »

If anyone is using Ivory 2, please check the Yamaha piano and see if your D4 key sounds the right note. That is, the D above Middle C. Mine loads an out-of-tune D# instead of the D.

All the other pianos loaded the right notes, but the Yamaha was affected, and apparently for all velocity layers. If mine is the only one, then maybe a reinstall will fix it. But I have a suspicion that they're all affected. Strange they haven't noticed yet.

I've just updated my Ivory and Italian grand both to version 2. Loading the C7 gives the right notes across the keyboard.

Did you find the wrong "D" note on all presets for the Yamaha? What about a preference trashing?

Yeah, I tried all presets and all velocity levels. The note is in the wrong place. I've quit and restarted, and I've done about everything I can think of, including preferences and permissions (which is more of a superstitious ritual than a fix-it-all, at least for me it is). I haven't tried the entire chromatic scale; there may be others. I guess a re-install is in order for me. And if that doesn't work, a call to Synthogy.

Thanks for checking. If anyone else has Ivory 2 -- especially upgraded from Ivory 1.5, I'd appreciate knowing whether this goes beyond my own installation and computer or if it's possibly some product of upgrading from Ivory 1.5, or whatever. You might check your entire chromatic and see if it happens on any other notes.

That's interesting, I had one project that every time I loaded it the piano part was off. I hadn't played this project in a while or with Ivory 2. I thought some notes had mistakenly got moved or something, but then when I tried playing the part live that same D you mention was out of tune. It was on the Yamaha also. However, I simply unloaded the plug in and restarted it and all was fine. Not even sure this relates to your problem, but it is ironic it was the exact same note. I haven't played with Ivory 2 much since upgrading, now I'm curious to run through all the presets to see if there is a problem. I'll get back after checking mine out more.

Joe Ierardi of Synthogy is a responsible guy. I think a call or an email to tech support would definitely be in order.

I just upgraded to Ivory 2 as a little Christmas treat.

No problems with the Yamaha for me to this point. I must say I am pleasantly surprised that on my aging system with only 2GB Ram Ivory 2 seems to be as or more efficient than the original version, even with the additional layers and resonances.

I guess the upgrade includes a few relatively subtle changes, given that the base pianos are the same, but added up it is definitely more satisfying to play and sounds fabulous. Coupled with my velocity tweaking to the presets to better complement my Yamaha controller, I'm really enjoying it.
