MOTU, could we have +6dB more on the faders?
I have to admit, my reasons are selfish. I've been using the Euphonix controllers, which go up to +12dB. When I get up to +6dB, that's it- the top 1 inch or so of the fader does nothing. So instead of having 100mm of fader control, I really only practically get about 80mm.
I noticed that Logic has the +6dB limit as well. Protools has +12.
I do believe DP would smoke the rest of the native DAWs once again with this feature.
And before you say it, I still don't consider PT to be a truly native DAW, because they still have a proprietary plugin architecture, i.e. they don't support Audio Units.
If it's too hard to write more headroom into the code, maybe you could at least give us a rescaling feature, so we could scale any 10bit fader 100% to DP. Plus, it would then be able to match what happens with a MIDI fader (works top to bottom).

and pre fader metering.
Amen.
Amen.

Is there any way to calibrate the faders on the Euphonix to match DP's scaling and limits? That would be the way to go and one could thereby make things okay across all daw s/w.

No, I don't think that can be done, unfortunately.n2mpujack wrote:Is there any way to calibrate the faders on the Euphonix to match DP's scaling and limits? That would be the way to go and one could thereby make things okay across all daw s/w.
Still, it would be cool to have that kind of gain on DP faders anyway. Digital and analog consoles usually have +10 on their faders.
Interestingly, I have a friend who uses a Mackie Control. He said he uses the whole fader, i.e. the very top of the fader is +6 dB.. hmmm.. I think I will do a little experiment and turn off Eucon and use Mackie Control emulation (the way it was before DP supported Eucon). It would severely limit these controllers' functionality so I wouldn't keep it that way, but it would answer the question!

I try to avoid ever going into gain territory with the trim sliders, but given the mapping to a hardware controller, I think your request is a sound one -- especially in the context of providing a scaling feature.
As there is a scaling feature for the audio monitoring, I am guessing this would be possible for MOTU to support with the mixer window sliders.
