8pre, Vista, and Ableton Live

Hi there,

Here's the story: A friend has given me his 8pre and some drum mics to mess around with since he wasn't using it. He is a Mac user and I have Windows Vista on my laptop, so he didn't have the software installation CD for Windows. I'm reading a lot about driver issues and other problems with Vista and other versions of Windows.

I can't seem to get sound coming out of my computer from the 8pre and I'm using Live 7. A signal shows in Live but nothing comes out of the speakers. When I set up the Audio I/O in Live should I be using the ASIO drivers or the other one? Also, is there any way to get this thing running if I don't have the installation CD? I'm not too computer savvy, but I can learn since I really want to get this working.
