424-->424??

Post by dementedchord »

hi... i'm thinling of a major change for me and wondered if this might be a quick solution...
i've been using a tascam fw controller of late but recently copped a soundcraft series 500 desk that i'm hotrodding... planing on useing i/o24 to get the board integrated... i'm also planning on offloading vstis to a separate box which i can take out for keyboard gigs... my question then is when in the studio assuming i have a 424 in both boxes will i be able to send the vstis in box b to box a through their respective cards... make sense??? thnx in advance...

No, you can't connect two PCI-424 cards together directly. The best solution would be to have 2408mk3s connected to the cards, and then connect the 2408mk3s by ADAT optical.
The leading cause of wrong answers is asking the wrong questions.

thnx for the quick response/// interesting... on the face of it you wouldn't think it would be difficult... ie. how different would the output from card B look as compared to a 2408 to card A... perhaps something in the handshake... any other ideas??? i had previously considered ethernet and probably end uo going that way unless someone comes up with a better plan... thnx again...
