How to record signal with Motu without eq, compressor etc..?

Post by hanysz »

Hi, I have Motu 896mk3 and I need record dry signal form analog imputs without any effect (equalizer, compressor), but I need this effects for live monitoring analog imputs. This is very important. Thats why I bought FW audio interface with DSP. I don't need record signals with eq or compressor. I have it in Cubase. I can't find pre/post chooser. It is possible?

The quick answer is, "no." The insert effects are pre-send. That said, there are a few workarounds (do a search for other threads on this topic) including back patching and compressing/equalizing the outputs instead of the inputs.

Buy a litepipe cable and patch an ADAT out into an ADAT in.

Bus the mic input your are recording in CueMix to a channel on the ADAT out you have the litepipe attached to, and monitor and apply FX to the corresponding ADAT in channel you plugged the litepipe into.

Record from the original mic input. Do not apply FX to this input.
