EWQL Symphonic Orchestra Gold Help needed
I have a G5 with 2GB of RAM. I use Digital Performer 4.6 and MachFive. I purchased the EWQL Symphonic Orchestra and can't for the life of me figure out how to install it. Can't find anything in the manual. I tried installing from the install disk (natch!) and it did install two folders "instruments" and "multis"; the "instruments" lists a bunch of instruments and the "multis" is empty. There are these files on the other 3 disks with the .nki extension which, on my Mac, have an MS Word (!) icon and I'm not sure where to put these. Jeez, any help is greatly appreciated. Hopefully, I'm just missing something obvious.
Thanks!
Tim
Thanks!

The MacOSX installation instructions were on a separate piece of paper from the manual. Check your box for that piece of paper. It provides a URL that contains detailed install instructions. IIRC, there are additional (updated) files (like the DFD installer) that you need to download. It's been a while though.

Actually, I really misrepresented this. I'm not using EW SO Gold with MachFive. SO is a separate plug-in in DP 4.6.
Thanks. I've installed all the updates and everything checks out and launches but...
I can't see how to actually load any samples via the interface. In the "new multi" field, the triangle produces no pulldown, but I guess this is because I have to create multis. But I'm unclear as to how to actually get going and load sounds.
Sorry if I'm missing the obvious.

Re: EWQL Symphonic Orchestra Gold Help needed
I haven't yet installed the EWQLSO player after moving from the G4 to the G5, and have just been loading the data (which is on a hard drive that contains sample data from all the other plugs like SampleTank and Mach5 as well) into Kontakt2. So, I can't help with specifics right now. But, the EW player is derived from Kontakt so what you need to do is find the Load menu and use that to browse to where your sample data is stored, and load the .nki files. There should be a Preference in the EW player that allows you to enter a path that it will use until changed.
The Multi menu will be blank until you create some of your own. Gold doesn't include Multis (I believe the higher-end versions do include Multis that consist of multi-mic'ing e.g. on stage, at the back of the hall, etc).

Actually, I finally got it to work loading samples, clicking the down arrow next to the "empty" areas. Now, however, having loaded the vibes, I'm getting terrible digital noise following the nice clean attach and brief sustain. What is this? T

This could be the issue that Aggregate Devices fixes. If you're not using multiple Chunks in a project, then you might try that.

I'm assuming DP's CPU utilization isn't maxing out, right?

Thanks. I checked out the thread, but no help. Like one of the others, when I open Audio/MIDI and click over to "Audio Devices" there is not Audio > Open Aggregate Device Editor. I'm using DP 4.6 with the MOTU 828, on OS 3.9. The CPU isn't maxing at all when the noise happens.

Jeez, I don't know. I reloaded the samples and probably did some other things I'm not aware of and now the noise is gone! If I figure out what I did, I'll let you know, but I honestly am not sure. But it's all working beautifully now with my set up.

Re: EWQL Symphonic Orchestra Gold Help needed
Ah, OK. Sorry about that Tim. Yeah, as I'm sure you read (since you included your OSX version to indicate you aren't using Tiger), 10.4 added support for Aggregate Devices. And, it's this added support that, I believe, has caused (or contributed to) the crackling issue in DP when using Tiger.
If the Audio Performance meter isn't redlining, I'm not sure what else to look at except perhaps to ask if you downloaded/installed the DFD extensions. If so, maybe go into the Prefs and disable DFD to see if that helps.

Ah yes, Tiger. Well, I'm about to jump over. Read my post that precedes your last which I was editing when you replied. I'm a happy camper now, if a bit puzzled.
Thanks for all the help, my friend. It's greatly appreciated.
