DP6- Device Remap Losing MIDI Routing! AAAH! HELP!
I'm in the process of building all new DP6 orchestral templates after adding new computers to my system. Template building is a slow, tedious process, auditioning sounds and so forth..
I finally finished the template- everything was good, all of the MIDI PORT and Channel routing was correct, as well as the Audio routed back into the system (via MOTU 424 and 4 MOTU 2408s).
Then, disaster happened. Somehow, DP "reset" itself between closing the program and the next time I opened it. ALL of the MIDI Ports and Channels were now wrong, all a generic port and channel number.
Luckily, I'm fairly obsessive compulsive- I had taken screen shots of every orchestral section, so I had MIDI tracks names and could correspond them with correct Port and MIDI channel routing. I fixed it all.
Of course, next day, I open the session, and it's all F#$W#%%#$^#$#^$ all over again.
F$%%^ Me.
What can I do to correct this and make sure it never happens again? What am I missing?

Re: DP6- Losing my MIDI Port & Channel Routing! AAAH! HELP!
Just as an addendum for the problem solving- I have Music LAB's MIDI over LAN. It's been setup for each slave PC in the system. Those MIDI port designations are found in the MIDI setup, in the Music Lab MOL setup, and are visible in the DP Bundles under MIDI devices, as well.
In other words, those MOL settings do exist, and DP even sees them. They all look correct in DP, as well, with name corresponding to the correct MIDI port to the correct slave computers.

One more piece of the puzzle- Upon opening the file, it keeps saying that it wants to do a Device Remap- that some of the MIDI is not the same configuration. Which is weird, because I have been working on the template with new computers for a week now, and it only says this now.

Ok, This is getting worse, if that's possible.
No matter how many times I re-assign the MIDI Ports and Channels to the MIDI Tracks, and save it, including as a template, DP insists on bringing up the "REMAP MIDI DEVICE" dialogue every time I start these DP sessions.
1st, DP doesn't list what the OLD routing was, it only makes you select a new routing.
2nd. I counted them, and the number of re-routable choices offered by the dialogue is less than the number of MIDI ports I have on my machine, as assigned by the Audio MIDI setup.
3. If I select "Don't Remap", I get empty routing for all MIDI tracks
4. If I select "CANCEL", I also get empty routing for all MIDI tracks.
What can be done? Someone has to have experienced this before.

Well, no responses?
I have come across a fix that works for me, and I present it in case anyone else ever encounters the same situation in the future.
Basically, DP6 acted weird when working with a large template that combined elements that were created in earlier DPs and DP6. (4,5, and 6). When I constructed a brand new template from scratch- all new elements, it no longer gave me this bug.
So, take pictures of your templates, which will make it easier to reconstruct them in the future!

First of all I highly recommend you update to 7. But if i was reading you right, I had the exact same problem. I believe it is a problem with Waves plug ins. Remove all of your waves plugins and see if that does the trick. There is also a work around that I found. I was always able to open the file correctly after trying to open it one time and then stopping the opening during the prompt when it is looking for missing soundbites. So, get yourself a missing soundbite....open the file....stop the file opening during the missing soundbite prompt and then reopen the file it should find all of the devices at this point. I know I'm not explaing this that well but I've got a problem of my own and a deadline. good luck. move to 7 this problem goes away....
(2) Mac 8 core, (1) mac pro 12 core, waves, EW Stuff, NI stuff, VSL stuff, most of the other junk too

Re: DP6- Device Remap Losing MIDI Routing! AAAH! HELP!
I have a similar problem with one session. I posted a while ago about and very few people experienced the same issue, so it seems this is not very common. It doesn't make it less frustrating!
I never really found how to fix that session, but I found a weird workaround. The trick was to open an old version of this session or a similar session (with similar bundles), and after it loaded I would close it and open the offending session. This way it would open normally and it wouldn't show me the dreaded "Device Remap" window.
I know this is not the exact same problem, but I'm sure is related and caused by some issue with the bundles. I also tried the trick cccppprrr suggested and it works too, but it takes more time.
Hopefully DP7 fixes this. That's the first I want to try after I upgrade to it!

Hi There, this post is similar to:
MIDI Assignments Disappearing!!! I really need help here
If you are still having the issue check out my last post there, as I may have found a solution. I think having to upgrade to DP7 is a bit extreme.
Cheers
