Ultralite MK3 noise

Post by meneldor »

Hi!
I've tried talking to support through the TechLinks, but I got no answer, so I'm trying here...

I have an UltraLite MK3, and whenever I play audio, I get this crap:
http://www.jacoblysgaard.com/wp-content ... f-motu.wav" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Plus, when I don't play anything, I get a digital snap/cracle/hiss thing going on. Tried flippping through the sample rates and so on, but to no avail. Have all the latest firmware and drivers installed.

Also, when I use it on my mac, there is no problems. Tried with different speakers, DAWs etc. It's gotta be the Ultralite.
Anybody has some ideas what it could be? I'm dying here!

mk3, before the firewire/usb2 hybrid came out. So the regular one, I guess.

What kind of Firewire controller are you using? Is it Texas Instruments? Is the Firewire port onboard or a daughter (PCI/PCIx) card?

If you're getting crackles and pops while you're not actually doing anything -it could be (computer) bus related.

Since everything works okay on your Mac, my guess is it's not the Ultralite. Determining what it is, though, will take some patience and sleuthing.

I'm plugging it straight into the motherboard, a gigabyte GA-EP35-DS4.
But the ultralite shows up as a texas instrument device in the device manager, but in "devices and printers", it shows as "motu audio".

Your firewire port may be sharing an IRQ with some other device/port. Just adjusting IRQ assignments in your BIOS. And disable any stuff you don't use, like onboard sound, parallel/serial ports, to free up IRQs.

Good idea, but I just tried that. IRQ assignments are all sorted, but the problem persists still...
