G5 doesn't see PCI424 [solved]

Hey!

Since I brought my Mac Pro home we bought a "new" Power Mac G5 in the studio we got it so we could use the UAD-1s and the MOTU PCIX-424 from our ancient G4... The UAD-1s work fine but the G5 doesn't see the MOTU card :-( I've installed the latest PCI drivers and the computer is running OSX 10.4.3 (I'm trying to locate my 10.5 Leopard box) and it's a dual 2ghz G5.
Any suggestions?

You might try updating the OS to 10.4.11. Lots of stuff only runs under 10.4.11 or later.

My G5 also has a UAD-1 and PCI 424. When I first installed them, one of them didn't work. I moved them to different slots and all was well. I don't remember where I saw the advice on which slots to use, or why it matters, but once moved, I never had this problem again.

I did try to switch slots on the cards but it didn't help.
There's no internet in my studio and seems it wasn't posible to connect via the iPhone on system 10.4.3. But I managed to locate my copy of 10.5 Leopard (didn't think I'd find use for that again!) So hopefully it'll work with that...

Try this:
un-install the drivers
Take the card out
Re-install the drivers WITHOUT the card installed
Install card ..

the drivers need to be present before the card .. ( pretty sure anyways )

I had the MOTU installers on my computer but today I thought of checking the downloads at MOTU.com and then I saw that it says clearly that 10.4.11 is needed. Installed 10.5.8 and everything is fine... Sorry to waste your time and thanks again!
