Best Mach 5 Piano

Post by sam_shade »

Is there a reasonably convincing piano sample which will work well with Mach 5 in DP 3.1? I record all types of music, but find the built in Bozendorfer grands too mild for my taste. It's a little hard to tell from the demos as well. They all sound pretty good. When budgets permit, we use one of the 9 footers available, but I'm sure there's something out there that's close. Any ideas? BTW I use a G4 dual 1gig w/2 gigs ram.

cheers

You may find the piano in MOTU Symphonic Instrument to be ideal or good enough. At the price of MSI, you're getting a lot for your money, and if you want the quality orchestral stuff too, it's probably worth the investment to buy it first and only then consider Synthogy Ivory, SampleTekk's(?) White Piano, etc. MSI can of course load into Mach Five and DP.

Thanks for the response Mark. Too bad you can't do a trial run as you can with software. MSI sounds good to me and there's always a use for orch samples...time to retire the S 550(has some useful sounds for click tracks!)
