Last update 10/29/2007...?

Post by MIDI Life Crisis »

Just noticed this. MachFive ver 2.02 was the last update and it's approaching 3 years old now.

Is it bug free? Perfect? Or just abandoned?

It works great, but it does seem like it's been back burner'd for an awfully long time now.

I'm just sayin... ;)

please tell us MOTU I would like to know - I was thinking about upgrading from v1 but looks like a scary investment at this point

Well, as I said above, it works great but no development in 3 years? The upgrade from ver 1 to ver 2 is well worth it, IMO, and comes with a massive amount of great samples and presets.

As always, I want more... :)

A real shame, so much easier to work with than Kontakt but it's fallen behind so far I can't see it catching up.

3 years for a software update would most likely seem like it's no longer being supported.I hope it is,I got my copy in 2009,and already feel the need for a new update.I can't imagine if I had bought it in 2007,how I'd feel. Great program, but Kontakt 4 has left it in alot of ways,as far as speed,support,libraries.. Here's to another Mach Five 3 release.

EthnoInstrument came back from the dead after a long time without updates, and it has vastly improved with V2...

'feeling the need' is not exactly the criteria for a company to invest time and money into an update. If you have a specific problem or desire a feature, sure, good reason. But just to satisfy your sweettooth for something new and shiney? I'd prefer the put their resources elsewhere - like DP. MachFive is working great for me. It does what it does better than most other VI samplers. I bought it in 2007 and it still feels great.

I also love M5's GUI and functionnality. I just find it unfortunate that most of the libraries today are made for K4 instead...
