Re: How do I Get Mach Five To Read Kontakt Samples?
Use UVI-Extract, it came with M5 & there is also a button for it on M5. Reads .nki files just fine...
Cheers,

…string theory says that all subatomic particles of the universe are nothing but musical notes. A, B-flat, C-sharp, correspond to electrons, neutrinos, quarks, and what have you. Therefore, physics is nothing but the laws of harmony of these strings. Chemistry is nothing but the melodies we can play on these strings. The universe is a symphony of strings and the mind of God… it is cosmic music resonating through 11 dimensional hyperspace.

A quick recommendation using UVI-Extract within MachFive: If possible, copy the samples you want to convert onto your hard drive first. It'll make the conversion run smoothly (more efficient read/write time stuff).

I Did not see the button,Is it in 1.0? Thats the version of mach five I am running.Originally posted by BKK-OZ:

Look here: <img src="http://www.motu.com/products/software/m ... dy.html/en" alt=" - " />
You will see that nice big red area in the upper left-hand corner. In the bottom of that section you will see a magic button labelled "UVI". Click it!
BTW, you said 1.0 - there is an updater (not a new version) that you can download from the MOTU site.
Happy sample importing.

Re: How do I Get Mach Five To Read Kontakt Samples?
errrrr... me no understand...
never said there was a 'Kontakt' button...
when you fire up UVI, it gives you a nice tabbed GUI, just select the NI tab (think that's what its called, can't be bothered firing it up @ the moment) and then just follow the basic steps in UVI's on-line help to import/translate your samples so that they are then available to M5.
Take that tip about bringing them onto your hard-drive and if you are planning on bringing over more than a couple of samples, read up on the batch mode.
Cheers,

Re: How do I Get Mach Five To Read Kontakt Samples?
Yes, I use Kontakt samples all the time - I use UVI-extract to get them into M5's format, just like I said b4.
1) copy samples from your CD to a temporary folder somewhere on your hard-drive (this is optional, but it will make everything faster)
2) Fire up UVI, navigate to your samples folder, follow the simple steps in UVI's on-line help
3) Convert your samples and save them into your M5 sounds folder
4) Go back into M5 an, voila! as if by magic, they are there, ready to be used!
Mate, don't mean to be rude, but I think you now have officially approached RTFM territory.

Re: How do I Get Mach Five To Read Kontakt Samples?
RTFM is a little 'code' for people who work in technical support areas - it's like 'UE'.
A support person can say to an unwitting client something like, "...looks like you gotta RFTM problem there, or maybe it's a UE, we'll get back to you tommorrow with a fix on that..."
Usually the client gives up or just goes away.
RFTM = Read The F...ing Manual
UE = User Error
Just me being cheeky - no intent to give offense!
