1024 mb ram limit?
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me. I have been searching for an answer to this for a while. I have a G5 powermac w/ 6 gigs of Ram installed using an 828 MKII, and DP 6.03 ( or whatever is newest in the 6.x). I cannot raise the ram usage any higher than 1024 in the "configure hardware driver" window. 2048 and 4096 are both grayed out. It has been like this since DP 5 and no one else seems to have the answer... Help?
Re: 1024 mb ram limit?
That's not megabytes of memory/ram usage, it's the buffer setting measured in samples. Check the manual for an explanation. If needed, DP will allocate the maximum amount of memory allowed by the OS (currently I believe somewhere around 3 gig per app) regardless of what the buffer setting is.

Check your getting started guide and all will be explained.
Creativity, some digital stuff and analogue things that go boom. crackle, bits of wood with strings on them that go twang
Re: 1024 mb ram limit?
If you're on a G5, then the RAM usage will be handled automatically by OSX. You can check the RAM usage in the Activity Monitor in OSX.
1024 is par for the course. There's no problem, but I agree that the Getting Started Guide will explain much.

Wow, the get started guide... I couldn't find anything about it in the MANUAL, and now I guess I know why... I feel pretty dumb...
Thanks a ton guys.
