23.976 (23.98) no longer outputs from DP

Does anyone know when MOTU is planning on updating its Firewire/USB/Audio drivers so that DP will output 23.98 timecode correctly via their own interfaces? Version 1.44 of MOTU SMPTE Setup DID work at this frame rate, but following versions have not and no version will work in Snow Leopard.

I need DP to send code to two other machines that lock to it and now have no way to do so. 23.98 is the standard now for most film and TV projects, not 29.97, and it is becoming increasingly difficult to get editors to output 23.98 projects at 29.97 just for me when it's not an issue for anyone else in the post team. I understand that the two use the same time base and everything, but getting a correctly futzed windowburn and restripe from editorial is something that requires a lot of time on their part.

I bought an 828mk3 SOLELY for the purpose of outputting 23.98 and it is nothing more than a brick right now because MOTU SMPTE Setup won't correctly send that frame rate (even though it used to).

If anyone has found another reliable software or hardware solution for this that doesn't require me to spend ANOTHER X hundreds of dollars for hardware/software that works (and isn't a classic MOTU workaround), please let me know! It would be much appreciated.

I did contact them and just got a vague response about the driver currently not supporting that frame rate and that it would have to be addressed sometime in the future.

After consulting a number of professional techs, we found that there is no hardware solution for this problem because DP/MOTU SMPTE Setup ONLY talks to MOTU hardware when dealing with TC generation.

The part that baffles me is that DP still sends TC info to attached control surfaces at 23.976. I wish there was a way to route that information somewhere else.

I would agree. Especially since the driver used to work and the fact that 23.976 and 29.97 share the same timebase.

I use both DP and ProToolsHD and when the project is at 23.976fps we always have to use ProTools. I don't know if the LE systems will do this as wel but they are considerably less than th HD rigs and you can always use DP with the PT hardware. I had too many problems with MOTU hardwar not working for pro Film and TV environments.
