Hey, Don, I'm very sorry about Tyson.

I know exactly what you are going through, and I understand your sadness.

My family is a total animal lover. My parents have a very big house, so they have like 20 stray dogs and at least 10 cats, all rescued from the mean streets. Now they all live like kings!

Some people may think it's "just a cat", but those people are not blessed with the love and companionship a cat (or dog) can give you. They become inseparable friends for life, and one obviously feels this huge hole when they die.
It's amazing how much a cat or a dog (or an Iguana) can enrich one's life.
In my family our pets are considered one of us, like my brothers or sisters.

Only few people are sensitive and lucky enough to share all the great things in life that a pet will give them. I'm happy for you you were lucky to share with Tyson so many years.

After you are done mourning him, and in due time, I hope you can give another stray cat an opportunity to share his life with you. It will be a mutual favor: you get the joy of helping and enjoying a great pet, and he will give you unlimited love and loyalty! It's the perfect win-win situation!

Don, I know just how you feel. My 16 year old Iguana passed away at the end of April. She was my only pet and I feel very alone without her. Less than a week before, I took her to the Vet and He said her Liver & kidneys were suffering. Lots of tests. I tried to force feed her too and was thinking the same things as you. Six days later she passed in her sleep while I was sitting next to her on the couch about 1am.

It's hard to believe a pet can have such an effect us. But they do. Tyson seemed like a cool cat. My thought are with you, Dude.

Sorry Don we get to love our animals. I lost one of my cats this year and she was a sweet hart who loved to cuddle. My other cat is my studio friend as the matter she has her own chair next to me and she is in it purring right now.

that's why I belong to this forum. You guys are all right in my book.

I am a grown man, but I know how to grieve and cry for humans and pets and am not ashamed of it, although, I was surprised how hard it hit me though. I wish now I had not gotten on to him for leaving fur everywhere. Makes you feel a little bit guilty. I am starting to feel a little better now and trying to do some recording.

a timing issue with Melodyne is kicking my butt. I can't get the transport to sync with the project audio on play back. Oh well, life goes on.

I may post a new subject soon for some help.

Interesting that of all the musicians I've met in this life, more have been
cat lovers than dog lovers. Maybe it's just the group of people that I've met.
Or maybe it has something to do with cats and music, who knows.

My wife is a dog lover and I'm partial to cats. Two years ago our cat Samantha
died at the age of 17. She had wandered into my (then) garage studio one day
as a kitten, maybe six weeks old, and she just never left. I think she picked us out as her family. She grew to know exactly when we got up, went to bed, mealtimes, and could sense our moods. I swear she liked to watch Jay Leno because whenever we had him on, she would sit and stare transfixed at the TV, but if we switched it to Dave Letterman she would lose interest immediately. Often she would curl up on the floor next to my piano when I played it, and she'd leave when I stopped playing.

Pets "get our number" and yes, they become family members. Don't know if they feel love the same way we do, but they certainly respond to it when
we give it to them. Cats or dogs, more and more studies show they are
far smarter than thought even a decade ago. In fact, cats weren't really
studied for years because they weren't deemed worthy of study.

I, too, understand what it is to lose "just a cat".
