There was a mention that obviously as DP users we already had these plugs, but I wonder if as DP users we'll get to download the AU version for free?

It might be handy to occasionally use the plugs in Live or Logic, for example.

First step to phasing out MAS??

What?! I can't BELIEVE they didn't include the MasterWorks Gate and Limiter in the offered collection! ;-)

Does anybody use the MW Limiter any more anyway? It's over 15 or more years old and there are probably much better options today.

I always need limiters in my jobs. Most cases, I use Waves L1 or L2, because they are in most audio facilities where I work (audio facilities with PT systems).
One reason why I admire DP is for that, It comes with a good limiter. With PT you must use 3rd party plug-ins like Waves to have a good limiter.
It is a shame that this bundle doesn't come with Limiter.

Looks like you need to purchase the bundle and have and iLok, which makes sense, though it would be great to have access to these plugs as AU for no additional charge. I still can't blame them for sticking the iLok on it.

I recommend you update to DP 7.2 and get all the goodies included, at least in DP :D

It's great that we have the option of using these plugs in other hosts. Here's to hoping there's a discount for DP7 owners. As far as included plugs, the one MOTU plugin I wish I could use in other hosts is the Pattern Gate. Maybe they'll throw that one in someday..

Ya know, I think this is actually a cool idea. All three of these
plug-ins are great (well, okay, I don't use the Leveler but I know
it's still cool).

Now, wouldn't you think that Avid would make its Pro Tools virtual instruments
(Strike, Velvet, etc.) available as separate native plug-ins? They'd actually make some money.
But nooooooooooo....

One thing's for sure - you can't say MOTU isn't busy coming out with new
things these days...they seem to be on a roll, the likes of which I haven't
seen from them in maybe...ever.

It is mysterious why the matserworks gate wasn't included. It's definitely my go to gate. Sounds good, has sidechain and sidechain filters. Oh and it actually works. (looking at you Sonalksis) This and the MWEQ are the main plugins i really miss when I have to use another daw.

Maybe MOTU will work out a new set of stock plugs (AU, even!) for DP 8? And I agree, it's probably time to phase out MAS. Aside from Audio Ease, is anybody even developing MAS plugs anymore?

Izotope codes Ozone4 in both AU and MAS versions. There are a couple of
other developers that do the same - can't recall which at the moment.

I was wondering the same, but after reading that magicd used it for an important mastering project, I figured it's worth a try.

http://www.motunation.com/forum/viewtop ... =1&t=37729

I'm using it on a CD mastering project for raising the volume and 24>16 bit reduction, and so far it seems to be fine. I have relatively little experience with dynamics processors in general, so I don't have much to go on, but I wonder if the MW Limiter sometimes gets a bit of a bad rap just because it's been around for so long.
