Original Traveler Win Xp and compatible DAW

Post by troubador »

I have a MOTU Traveler (not mk3) running along side Windows XP. I had been using Audacity quite well with it, however, Audacity only allows one stereo channel to be recorded at one time (due to lack of Asio driver support through Audacity). I've researched many different roads from ; ASIO4ALL, Self-compiling Audacity, a Linux setup, ect.. The short of it is I would like to be able to use at least the 4 pre's simultaneously. What software will allow me to do this with the least headache (minus an external mixer) and little to no budget?

How little is the budget?

I tried few applications and many do not show all available channels/options from the MOTU driver. The only app so far that shows all channels is Adobe Audition. You can get the demo to try it out.

By the way Audacity does NOT record 24-bit data either. It might appear that it does, however it is 16-bit with 24-bit resolution.

ASIO4ALL is a third party driver for all sound cards. I remember from somewhere it has other limitations - either resolution or sampling frequency.
