Re: Audio Editing
P.R., hype, and Pro Tools cost so much more, it has to be better, doesn't it?

Re: Audio Editing
YEah. I mean there are things I like about logic but there are just some things that are just frustrating to deal with.
I just want a DAW that gets out of the way!!
Thanks

Re: Audio Editing
For the most part, DP works just like Pro Tools. Logic is a different beast. Most any question concerning audio along the lines of “does it work like Logic or Pro Tools” the answer will be the latter.

Because there's a whole on-line cottage industry predicated on bashing DP. It's not your fault!enderjeff wrote:Thank you all for your help. I'm starting to wonder why I didn't thinking about this move earlier.
Thanks!

Really!? James, who is bashing DP outside of the frustrated users? Is it the competition?

Re: Audio Editing
Don't get carried away with what I said. It was partly tongue in cheek. But all one has to do is drop by a forum like GS and say something halfway positive about DP and they WILL swarm. I don't believe in any sort of orchestrated campaign by the competition although I hear Oliver Stone is working on a movie. But what I observe is a "group think" and mob mentality.bradswan wrote:Really!? James, who is bashing DP outside of the frustrated users? Is it the competition?
Most of what I observe are people who made a rather half-hearted "try" at DP at some point in the past and it didn't work out for them. A large number may have had other issues with their machine but blamed it on DP. Or they had some other issue that was an unlucky circumstance and they just gave up. Or they've got some sort of weird expectation that isn't met. "When I have 100 tracks and I try to scroll a window, it's not instantaneous-- therefore DP is crap." "I will only work at 128 buffer and I can't have 30 VIs going-- therefore DP is crap!"
What I've noticed is a good deal of armchair "stat obsession" by people throwing out theoretical performance limitations that most of them will not encounter. And many of those who slam DP haven't used it in years. It's always more comforting though for them to run with the pack than go against what seems to be the conventional wisdom.
Just my opinion and gut feeling. Nothing more.

Re: Audio Editing
I think facing one's own limitations is frustrating in the least. It might be easier, even if unconscious, to blame the software. I've had my ups and downs with DP throughout the years, and now that Motu has truly stepped up their game, I do notice much more positive comments, fewer rants on the board. I'm the happiest I've ever been with DP. Still would like to see more umff under the hood, but I've already said that about a 100 times.
All this to say "I hear you".
