CueMix Fx.exe application failed to start. XP pro

Post by todsta_onmotunation »

Hi,

Hardware: Motu 828mk2
Driver version: 4.0.4.2114

I have just migrated back from Vista to XP pro (bad case of if it aint broke don't fix it comes to mind).

The latest drivers for XP install and work fine apart from I cannot open cuemix. When I try to open CueMix FX.exe I get a prompt saying "This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. reinstalling the application may fix the problem." I tried the reinstall and i'm still getting the same pop up.

After a quick google search I found that this prompt is related to missing C++ libaries. Would be great if anybody has any advice on how I can get cuemix fx up and running again?

Many thanks
Paul

Sorry. I cannot help you directly.

Someone else has the exact same problem. In the thread directly under yours. Perhaps you might combine your efforts together.

Same issue here. Got Traveler with no original disk. Downloaded latest driver/software from MOTU. Everything installed fine. Audio console opens fine, talks to the Traveler OK. CueMix does not open and gives me same error about configuration being wrong and suggestion to reinstall it.

It appears that My Windows XP (SP2) is missing some critical component that new CueMix needs. Do not know what it is though. Hopefully MOTU guys can shed some light here.

I ended up getting an old installation CD, restoring Windows to pre-installed state and installing older drivers and CueMix from CD. It works now (the old version).

The download message at motu's site says minimum requirements are XP SP3, so maybe that's your problem. I bit the bullet and updated my XP to SP3 and it seems to work fine.
Of course, I'm using Mk3 but I'd give it a try anyway.

From my experience each time I updated to new SP it would slow the computer drastically. However the fresh install with slipstreamed SP works great. I just don't feel like reinstalling the system at this moment. I guess I will live with older drivers/CueMix. However it would be nice to know what missing piece is causing this issue and have it installed as a patch.

I wonder if it is possible to update drivers only without CueMix.

Have you tried getting in touch with MOTU tech support? This seems like something they would know how to fix.

I might try it later. However I doubt they will help me since I am not an original owner and product registration requires to show where it was purchased from.

If the interface was never registered by the original owner, then you should be able to register it yourself. The only required information is the serial number from the bottom of the interface. And I think MOTU can transfer the registration to you if the original owner did register it.

Guess what? I installed SP3 on different system just to test it out and CueMix does not start either. So, it is not SP2 issue. The MOTU latest drivers are just plain broken. :banghead:

It looks like new drivers are available now. Just tried it out - the CueMix does not crash anymore. Still need to check the rest.
