I was on the team of composers working on History Channels 'America: The Story Of Us' this year, was a pretty awesome project to work on! Some sections had me using over 100 tracks - despite its faults, I don't know of any other DAW that could help me manage a template that big in such an efficient way.
Just found a youtube video of one of my bits (I wrote nearly 2 hours of music for eps 7, 8, 9 and 10).
All the music from 3:16 is mine!

Cudo's Stu!
Perfect use of the virtual orchestra to build up pride and inspiration. I'm impressed.
I'm also interest in how a project this big and far flung gets "managed". If you've time, I'd be interested in reading about the mundane bits: templates, key sigs, the wording of assignments. How is that even done?

Shame you are so far away - You'd be welcome over for a beer.
The short answer to how a project like that is managed is.... complete chaos with constant executive meddling that seems to result in a coherent end product to the surprise of everyone
Must try and write some sort of blog on a project - never seem to have the time though...

Really nice job Stuartfox.
A blog on your process for handling the music would definitely be cool.
