Problem locating files from earlier DP sessions...

Post by splproductions »

I have tons of sessions I did back in DP3, and I have them all saved to DVD. I often pull a session off the DVD onto my hard drive to do a remix, etc. I just tried with 3 different sessions I did in DP3, and all of the soundbites had question marks next to them. All of the files are sitting right where they should be, in the Audio Files folder.

Here's the lame thing... I just tried opening these sessions in DP 7.12, and it worked fine. 7.2 is a no go.

Anyone had this problem yet, and anyone found a way to fix it?

(P.S. It doesn't list every single file when that Files Missing window pops up at the beginning... it just shows a few blank files with location "Macintosh HD", so I don't see any way to just "locate" the files.)

Solved my own problem... you have to go into a previous version of DP (I went into 7.12), make a change, then save it, close 7.12 and open 7.2.

Annoying... hope they fix it.

Sounds odd. Haven't tried it but something sounds fishy. It should just open.

Weird.

Same thing happens to me, I have file in dp 3 to 5' so I open files n dp 6 then save as dp 6 then open in 7.x. Works fine, bit if I try to open directly in dp 7 they don't work.

Well I'm going o/t on you, but I noticed you have an EPS. Damn, I miss that. THe sound wasn't always the best but I loved those patch buttons. Writing brass prats (sequencing it all into that little 2 line display) you can go from a mellow trombone to a nice growl. And what in the world is an Ice Spinner? I don't know, but I miss that little sound...

I had the same problem with an old project. I haven't had the time to mess with it to see if there's a 7.2 only work-around. I, too, had to open it in 7.12. Very odd. If anyone figures this one out, please post the solution! I guess this is a good reason to keep 7.12 on your drive for a while.
