TRAVELER mk3: phantom power adds a lot of noise

i used a NEUMANN SM69 a lot
today i prefer my SENNHEISER MHK30 & 40 as MS-set
i dream of 2 paired MKH800's. they are so silent. 10 dbA equivalent noise level ... !
i use also DPA omni's
i once tried 2 earthworks. they ask 10 mA from the phantom supply. a ot of noise as you can expect.

for those who stated " not out of the ordinary " ... what did cage wrote ? " music is the silence between the note's " , today it's the noise between the note's ...

Okay, I am at home with the damn thing... I won't be able to even open the carton box for some days due to impending tasks (including some works on my city's Cathedral organ ) but I promise to keep the board posted about my findings and (hopefully) therapy...

We tried a fix which was to increase the value of the filter capacitor to 47 MFD and it helped considerably but did not cure the problem. If the value of the cap is increased too much the high frequency response of the regulator suffers and thus, regulation suffers. The problem does not exist in the old Traveler or the 896 MKIII. The preamps themselves are fine, in fact excellent, but let us look at this a little further and I'll post the results here. Give me a couple or three weeks as I have to get unpacked and caught up but will work it in as I can.

did you tried to find another solution ?
does anyone know MOTU did a hardware upgrade ?

I have the same problem, no help at all from Motu, really bad white noise when the dc power is plugged in

sounds very clean
today my motu is only for playback up to 24 channels by adat & analoge

pitty, the pre amps are ok, theunit has great features, only the phantom supply is bad
i got after checkup and my complaint it was still the same a second unit ... and it was (is) just the same
probably a bad design ...
sad they don't hear the problem
