I'm having problems with our Dual 1GHz G4. When it's been running for 3 hours or so, it starts getting glitchy. A heavier processing file will crash Digital Performer, and eventually I start getting freeze-ups and kernel panics. If I turn the computer off for a while and cool down, it then behaves properly until it begins to get too warm again.
Would it be beneficial to replace the fan that's in there at the moment? Anyone have reccomendations on what to replace it with? I'm also looking into moving into a place with better air circulation around it.
I'm thinking it's an overheating issue, but it's only supposition on my part. Is it a possible cause?

Re: Processor Overheating
I was having the same problems with my dual 1GHz G4 because it was running "HOT" ( not in the Paris Hilton meaning of "HOT" )
Installed 3 internal fans:
2 on the heat sink and the 3rd at one of the pci slots. The third fan actually sucks/blows the hot air out.
I also purchased a "mini" fan which is sitting outside the case and aimed right at the case.
This seems to have settled her down and she runs COOL.
Albeit I have have the occassional mouse freeze/black curtain of death. I suspect it's my video card.
