Hi Folks
Just installing my new Blue Sky 5.1 monitors and have a question about using my 828 MkII to listen to 5.1 DVDs. I don't think it is possible... I have used DP7 without problem to playback surround files, but what I want to do it attach the 6 RCA outputs of my DVD player to the 828 and listen through my monitors to 5.1. I hooked up the DVD outs 1->6 to 828 ins 1->6, but there is no way to "choose" a direct 1 to 1 output, right?? Only pairs of outs.
Seems like I'm missing something obvious here - any help appreciated. I know folks use a studio interface such as the 828 in surround studios, I'm lost about how to hear the finished product. I read somewhere about using the Apple DVD player inside the MacPro - any experience with that idea?

Re: 828 MK II and surround DVD player
Hello there,
I got round this by getting a surround monitor controller made by spl to control my Genelec active monitors

Probably not what you want (to buy more gear!) but this really did allow me the flexibilty to connect all my devices. You can connect one set of inputs from the MOTU, and a second set of rca inputs. I've gone overboard as well with a Teufel Decoderstation 5 as well so I can have all my AV devices, BluRay, DVD HDD recorder, Apple TV etc, feeding into the rca inputs.
