MTP Console Cant Find MTP AV USB

Post by d2rd »

I have an iMac Blueberry updated to the latest version of OS 9. I want to use it to manage my MIDI network (not to sequence).

MTP Express Console does not find my MTP mkII AV USB although FreeMidi and Clockworks can see and scan the device. The error message is similar to: "There is no MTP device found... Please configure FreeMidi..."

Well FreeMidi IS configured and can see the and access the device. It seems that MTP Express Console wants to connect on Serial ports. This iMAC has only USB.

I don't understand why the MTP console cannot find the device. What is the answer here?

It's been a LONG time since I worked in OS9 and with FreeMIDI, but if my memory serves me correctly (and that's always questionable), I don't think you need the MTP Console. The first generation of MTPs were connected via serial ports and thus you needed the MTP Console to access them. When the interfaces changed to USB, MOTU came out with FreeMIDI and Clockworks that--I believe--allow you to do all the same sort of stuff that the MTP Console did.
