I think the contextual menus and the new "themes" are excellent! Go, MOTU!

seems like the more elaborate graphics (I'm using Motools)
are a bit more cpu intensive on my system,..maybe I'm imagining it....?

I like the new stuff though.

I think it's the latter. There really should be no logical reason for that.

I know what you mean james and maybe a guru like amplidood will chime in and officially confirm BUT,...

Looking at the GUI,.it is a lot more detailed, that has to take more resources,. no?

The number of bytes depending on the graphic just means a slightly larger memory footprint for a particular graphic. We're not talking a Mac IIci here. On a modern computer this should have almost immeasurable impact. Where are you seeing this processor hit? On DP's CPU meter, or does your GUI seem slower?

Thanks for the update -- I wasn't expecting this update so soon, based on earlier announcements.

Sounds like it might be safer to wait until a new computer, which should be real soon now. I'm in the middle of a project that has overdub sessions scheduled for this weekend, so it's probably too risky, especially if it uses more CPU.

please don't let me stop you, I am by NO MEANS an expert on computers.

and I have NOT done any specific or scientific testing.
it is running fine

That may just be the move from 7.12 to 7.2? It really shouldn't vary from one theme to another. You might want to check what your defaults are set to as far as the studio settings and the rest. Where is your "Work Priority" setting? It may help to change it to Medium if it's on High, or Low if it's already on Medium.

Ok, got my first oddity...
Couldn't quit DP. Had to force quit.
Couldn't repeat the problem though. Tried quite a few times.

Might be a good idea to remember to repair permissions after a software install and restart.
Also check for duplicate MOTU plugins in your MAS folder (if you keep them in subfolders).

I've been running 7.2 all day here and it's been smooth. Nothing unusual thus far. Now if I could stop switching GUIs like a kid in a candy store, I could get some more work done!

Ha!

:)

A friend of mine and fellow DP user actually yelled the ultimate 21st century cry of horror upon my description of the "themes" feature:

"OH NO! OPTIONS!"
