Hello All,
I have been using a G4 Quicksilver all these years with 3 internal HDs supporting DP, Colossus, Ivory, Reason, Kontakt, Stylus and Garratin Orchestra. I have Ivory running out of its own HD but had everything else pretty much on the same HD as the main OS. I know that is a weak configuration and suffice to say, my G4 died a few weeks ago.
I am ready to upgrade to a Mac Pro but would like to know what some of you have been using in terms of the machine specs. I am sure this has been answered in other threads on this forum and I am trying to find. If you can point me to them that would be highly appreciated.
I have been looking at this one http://store.apple.com/ca/product/G0G80 ... TEyMDExNzg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
In my mind a Mac Pro offers more scalability in the future than an iMac. How are you some of you using iMac and distributing the software so that the internal iMac drive is not taxed so much?
Hope to hear from you soon.

That has got to be the understatement of the year!sajjadalam6 wrote:

If you are thinking about a Mac Pro FORGET about the iMac!
That said, since I already had one, I changed its internal disk for a faster one (7200 RPM), and I placed the samples on a separate external drive with a FW800 case. Oh, and I maxed its RAM to (from 1 to 6 GBs).
For THAT purpose it's ok, as a SLAVE. But there's no comparison to what you could do with a Mac Pro...
