Esounz and IK are two of the most inane companies in the world when it comes to their organization. The complexity and confusion that one encounters when trying to take advantage of an offer from esounds is mind boggling. It's like being in the effing CIA sometimes to figure out where to get the sounds, the codes, the authorization upon authorization, the partial dowloads followed by more downloads just to get the "sounds"..ay yi yi..all while bouncing around in multiple windows.

This piece of info about the bonus sounds if a welcome relief..:)
Agreed about the complex processes with Esounz, IK, etc. To their credit, I called them yesterday and a tech answered right away and helped me locate the Wildcard Bonus, so at least they pick up the horn when you give them a buzz.

I am afraid I cannot credit these companies the same way as you have. I have called and been forced to leave messages on phone machines, something that always irks me to no end.

If you ordered through eSoundz, you would have received the Wild Card bonus and an extra pack to download, BUT it would have cost you (potentially) an extra $25. The extra money was well worth it if there is an extra pack that you wanted (and there was a selection of extra things to choose from), but it seemed unnecessary to spend $25 on an extra pack, when you could get 8 packs from IK for $3.13 each.

As for the Wild Card bonus... it will sit in your eSoundz area indefinitely, so you do not need to rush to download it. When you do, you will find that it is pretty sparse (1 bass, 1 guitar, 1 drumkit, and a bunch of previously released loop slices)... so Dan, and those of you who ordered through IK, you are not missing that much at all. It is a very minor bit of content in comparison to the many GBs of content you will have received in the 8x1.

One thing that I did not realize is that the combi presets listed under Sampletank2 will not load unless you have Sampletank XL ( you get error messages).

I mistakenly thought Sampletank XL was part of the deal. Not that I am complaining mind you, I certainly got a lot for my money. It is a little confusing though, and odd that the combis would even be there when the sound sets to support them are absent.

I'll have to trash the combis - or upgrade to XL (although I have not found a way to do that yet on the IK site). Their tech support told me it was possible though, so there must be a way.

I have dealt with both companies for seven years, and found the customer service to be awesome. Allen at Sonic Reality, in particular, is without a doubt the best support man in the business. The average turn around time for him to respond to an e-mail is in under 10 minutes, and he's ready to make you happy as best he can. One time I called SR, and got the phone machine and left a message. In under 5 minutes Allen returned my call.

Toodamnhip... remember a discussion we were having about a year ago, about the possibility of deeper things happening under the surface? I think there is a chance that your experience of these companies is being shaped either by your expectation, or perhaps (for whatever reason) your experience with them is as it is for some other end-result reason that only the universe knows.

Or perhaps there is more of a down-to-earth explanation. Maybe it is just probability... perhaps (like rolling doubles several times in a row) you have just tried to contact these companies several times in a row in those few times when they weren't able to respond effectively, and your opinion got tarnished because of it. If so, that's disappointing, and I would encourage you to try rolling a few more times. :-)

You can trash them. They are installed EVERY time you reinstall ST. I have deleted so many copies of those combis.

Well then, i will try to keep an upbeat attitude about these companies tech support.
However, I do not see my attitude about the insane complexity of their download system changing.

I'd agree that some definite improvements could be made. I am pretty used to it by now, so it doesn't trouble me too much, but I have definitely had to work my way through a few head-scratching moments.

I found leaving a note on tech support, rather than phoning, worked very well. Response was quick and replies were clear and usable.

I have a question for those of you using Sample Tank.
I've notice on some youtube vids the ST screen is green.
How do you change the colour? I find the red a little hard on the eyes.

There are three tiny little knobs on the far right of the GUI (in the middle) which allow you to change the colour, luminosity, and saturation. You can change it into something that is very comfortable on the eyes.

I have never changed mine since I came up with something I liked about 6 years ago (formula 5:00 o'clock, 2:30, 2:30, which is a light reddish-orange). And your settings are even remembered when you upgrade or reinstall. :-)

 Thanx Zed: I can't believe the time I've spent working with ST and I've never notice that.

What’s worse is that I’m having a vague recollection that I knew about this years ago and just forgot. It’s tough getting old.
