Recovering Files after Emptying the Trash

Does anyone know if you can recover a file or folder after it was emptied from the trash????

Some disk utilities will do that (Norton used to but I stopped using in in OS 9). Maybe disk warrior does, and there is a shareware program that does it, but you have to activate and AFTER THAT you can recover files.

But a commercial prog. like Disk Warrior should do the trick. I don't know of any way to do it otherwise and it is not always 100%. It is VERY important to NOT write anything to the disk in question as you can overwrite the very data you want to recover.

Generally, you'll want to go with a solid commercial prog and steer away from shareware as it is going into your directory and messing with your HD...

Thanks, I have both Disk Warrior and Data Rescue X but I cant find any info in either of the manuals for this specific problem....

If you have Data Rescue X, read this:

But, realize that OSX is constantly writing to the system disk. So, even if you haven't written anything to the disk yourself, your files could still be history.

DiskWarrior JUST repairs the OS X directories.

It is just a one trick pony!
