Soundtrack and the Motu 828ii don't seem to acknowledge the same channels. I can set up the Motu 828ii fine with Apple MIDI SetUp, but when I open Soundtrack the speakers no longer follow the configuration that I set up.
I think Soundtrack internally views the channels differently. People have posted workarounds for later versions of the device, and with Logic, but I cant find anything for this combination. Is there any way to make soundtrack obey the Motu828II?
Is there a way to configure the outputs?
Thanks,
Blithe

Re: Motu 828II and Soundtrack Pro 3
I just worked through this myself... here's what I discovered:
1) The speaker thing in Apple setup has never worked for me... so I avoid it!
2) I have the Main Outs on the 828 chosen via the MOTU Audio setup app. as my stereo outputs.
3) I have my stereo speakers coming from 828 Main Outs
4) make sure your STP submix(s) is set to 1,2 as outputs...
5) works fine!
1) surround sound: use STP's surround submix set to 1-6 as outputs and run your speakers from Main outs + 1,2,3,4 = 5.1 - you need to use the SMPTE speaker setup for which to where.
1b) make sure your volume level for Main Outs is a "0" dB.

Thanks for the response!
I have followed all steps except the following...
1b) make sure your volume level for Main Outs is a "0" dB.
How and where do I do this?
Also, stupidist of questions, but on the actual Motu device I should be coming out of the bottom right main out 1/4" jacks correct? Not the Main SND?
