Can Mach 5 do this?
I've been running a windows computer w/GigaStudio 2.5, basically as a big sound module. The other day the motherboard in this computer bit the big one, and pretty much is in need of a total rebuild. This got me thinking about getting Mach 5 for my Mac Pro (my main studio machine, running DP6). The tech support guy at Sweetwater said that I would be able to transfer my Giga libraries to the Mac via Mach 5 and play them as a VI in DP. This would be great, as Giga is the only thing I'm missing in bagging the windows computer. my question is how does this process work exactly, and would I need a separate drive to store the Giga samples on? Also since the Giga libs I have are 16 bit, how does this integrate with DP projects that are 24 bit? Thanks!
Re: Can Mach 5 do this?
Yup, I think these just mount as volume in Mach 5 vII. I don't think the 16 bit in a 24 bit project is a problem. DP can handle both 16 and 24 bit files in the same project - assuming the same sample rate.
