GPlayer and DP6

Post by indytoons »

Hi all. I've been using GigaStudio on a PC, like a big sound module. Last week the Motherboard in this computer bit the big one, and I've been scrambling for a workaround. Then I stumbled on GPlayer by Soundlib.com. Basically it plays Giga samples as a VI in DP, no conversion needed. Problem SOLVED!....err, not quite. GPlayer plays MOST Giga files flawlessly, but if I try to load, for instance a large piano lib I hit a snag. In Giga, big multi gig libs are loaded across 3-4 midiports, and then linked together. Gplayer does this as well, in fact running in standalone mode it plays 3+ gig libs just fine. when I try to do the same thing in DP it won't load all the velocity layers. This leads me to believe that this is a DP issue w/Gplayer. The guy at Soundlib gave me a couple of things to try but no dice. My question is: does anyone here use this software w/DP and have it working well on large sample libs? I don't think it's a memory issue, I've got 6gigs of ram in my Mac Pro. Thx!! in advance for any and all help!

Something else I'm wondering about. I'm loading in the Giga samples off the original disks. Most show a typical blue folder in them w/the samples when opened. But some only show a .exe file. Clicking on this pretty much sends my Mac into a seizure. Is there any way to get to the samples on these disks?
