10.6.4 and DP

Post by mikeka »

Working. If you had the graphics problem talked about in the thread below you may have to redo Dave's fix. I had to but all's well now.

I'd say it's working, but I've only done a little MIDI editing and some playback, along with a few odds and ends. No real "work" yet, so I don't want to give two thumbs up or anything until I work more, but generally I see no difference compared with the last time I opened DP, so signs all point to "working" for now.

On the other hand, Safari seems to get a bad case of the Steves periodically, and refuse to play YouTube (Flash?) videos. It's happened 3 times now, and even when it DOES play them, it sometimes stops in the middle with the spinning "loading" wheel (gears, not beachball) for as much as several minutes. I don't get that, but I'm sure they'll address it. Meanwhile, there's Firefox for those moments.

There's good Safari news, in the "Reader" button that appears in the URL line (where the RSS button appears in this forum) for pages that have an article on them. Makes for comfortable reading of news stories without so much interaction with advertising, which has reached epidemic proportions such that often I was having to close stories unread, simply because I couldn't find a way to close an ad that was covering the text. This solves that problem, and yet you still see the ads before and after reading the story.

So far I haven't noticed any other major differences in 10.6.4. That's good news for DP.

10.6.4 shipped with an older Flash version. There's a newer one that may help.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaagh! Oddball crash.

Did a session last night and was tracking drums. DP froze at 03:00.18. Just locked up tighter than a crabs butt at low tide. That's the first time I've ever had a crash while tracking. So I force quit, rebooted and tried again. Freeze at 03:00.18. So I force quit, rebooted, created a new project file. Freeze at 03:00.18. So I force quit, set preferences to boot from my 10.6.3 partition, rebooted, created new project file and all went well. 8)

I tried to duplicate the crash today and could not. So, I can't say for sure if it was a 10.6.4 issue or not - just reporting the event.

Like I said, aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagh!

I don't know about that, but it definitely sounds warmer, with more air, more opennessitiness, and more 3D. And punchy.

Hmm. Someone just reported a crash (after updating) in another thread. I think I'm going back to 10.6.3 for DP.
