Adding markers during live recording

Post by MIDI Life Crisis »

Transferring a few long theater recordings I wondered if adding markers while recording was possible. Sure enough it is possible.

Even better opt-clicking on the marker allows you to name it on the spot as well.

Cool!

It gets even better than that. In the Commands window, set up a command for Add Marker & Edit Options. You'll dig it the most!

I had F8 as my add marker command for years... but then I got one of those Kensington four button trackballs... and now the upper right button drops a new marker in. Upper left saves!

I set this to ctrl-M, the same command as Add Markers, because I almost always want to name a marker when I add it. If I don't want to name it at that moment, I just hit enter.

(I was very happy when this feature came along in DP 5.?? - I'd seen it Pro Tools LE and was immediately envious.)

Great tip - I'm doing projects that have about 60-70 markers per track that all have to be named. This will really help.
On a related note, I'd love to have a big marker window kinda like the big counter window so I could see markers from a distance.

I love this new feature. You can also display markers in the new sizeable counter window. Cool.

I just fired up DP 7 yesterday for the first time. Looks like I've got some studying to do! This is great. Other than track folders most of DP new features the last few years have not been that exciting for me personally. Seems like now there are some real bread and butter improvements that really make life easier. Good job MOTU.
