VST in DP 7.12

Post by AleCerto »

I have to run some VST virtual instruments in DP 7.12.

Have I to use some wrapper plug-in or what?

Could you suggest the best - and cheaper ;-) - way to run the VST plug-ins in DP 7?

TIA,
Ale

Hi Ale.
Si. L'unico modo di usare VST con DP, ti serve il wrapper

Spero che questa soluzione funziona senza problemi

Note that Audioease's VSTWrapper has never been updated to run on Intel Macs.

Kind regards.

Every day I see new AU VI surfacing. There's thousands of AU's alternatives today that it renders wrappers pretty much obsolete... back in the day you needed them, today there are excellent AU alternatives, or the developer provides dual platform support.

Rather than using a VST wrapper inside of DP, you could also consider running another app alongside DP that natively hosts VST plug-ins — Plogue Bidule, for example.

+1

I am using Plogue to run VST instruments via Rewire. Connection is easy and sync is flawless.

There is a wrapper out there but it isn't for the casual end user. You might be surprised to find that a large number of VI's on the market that are cross platform are actually written as VST's and then wrapped using Symbiosis. The documentation lists Addictive Drums as one such instrument.

If you are a developer, it is possible to use this package to build AU versions of VSTs even without the source code, but it is tedious and technical.

I think the key to computing is to first, find the applications you want to use or NEED to use to achieve your goals and then... use the platform that supports it best... not the other way around. My DAW is Mac only so I use a Mac! There are so many AU alternatives today you don't even need to worry about a VST that isn't available as an AU or that makes any AU obsolete. If there is then you need to change platforms then. There's always boot camp  .
