Weird technical issue in Live playback with EW PLAY

Post by drumoverload »

Hello,
I am a fairly new DP user and (bizarrely) coming from Logic. Seems it's normally the other way around!
Anyway, I do a lot of live performance on v-drums and recently got EW PLAY Stormdrum2.
This seems a bit of a weird issue but when i play faster notes in DP for example on a snare drum, i get missing notes with EW PLAY. If i record it and listen back, it comes out perfect.
But the sound coming through in real-time definitely drops many notes.
I can try this in Logic and PT m-powered with absolutely no problems.
So, all of my other plug-ins with DP7 (Superior Drummer/ Ethno 2/ Machfive 2) I have no problems either (ie i can play a fast buzz roll on a instrument and it sounds fine).
I am loving DP for live, i find it so much easier to group MIDI sounds and use the Device Groups feature, but until i get the issue with EW PLAY sorted i won't be able to rely on these sounds for live work :(
Can anybody help?
BTW, CPU is not an issue, nor the latency is an issue. *this would also need to be tested on an electric drum type set up because on my MIDI keyboard a single note doesn't seem to be played fast enough to replicate the problem.

Thanks in advance. Seems like a really great forum!
M

Fo anyone out there that finds this of interest,
I spent the evening uninstalling PLAY (there is an uninstaller on the website) and
installed the original EW PLAY 1.2.5. Guess what - it solves my issue! Go figure.
DP 7.12 still seems very stable with my PLAY 1.2.5 after coming backward from the newest 2.0.9...some may need the newer features like better support for Pro Tools but for me it's worth more to have a pure stream of uninterrupted notes live. And that's what i get now.

Anyway, will definitely let EW support know about this one.

Regards,
M
