I've looked for this through the thread and don't really see much, and I'm not really expecting more than thoughts, but I was wondering if anyone had any ideas as to when DP8 might be released.
Basically I'm finally ready to upgrade from DP5 to DP7, and I just know that as soon as I do it, DP8 will come out right after the price-break window.
upgrade to 7, it's great IMHO! You could be getting work done now w all of the new tools while you're waiting.
The tuner alone has sped up my work flow, I use it on an aux send in my v-rack and it works great after i tweaked it a bit.
MacBook Pro (16-inch, 2019) 2.3 GHz 8-Core Intel Core i9 16 GB RAM OSX 12.7.1 Monterey
UAD Apollo Quad, some Waves, Soundtoys, Digital Performer 11.34, Reason 13, iZotope 11, and lots of real instruments to play.
DP8?
I guess we won't see it for a while. We are only in 7.12 so far, so my guess would be as good as anyone else's.
But MOTU seems to be busy improving things lately. They've released quite a few 7.X versions already in a few months. I'd still expect one or two more major revisions to 7.X before 8.
So don't worry. Forget about 8 for now. Just get DP7 and enjoy its new features and stability in the months to come. Worst case scenario is that you pay a small upgrade fee whenever 8 comes out.
Mac Mini Server i7 2.66 GHs/16 GB RAM / OSX 10.14 / DP 9.52
Tascam DM-24, MOTU Track 16, all Spectrasonics' stuff,
Vienna Instruments SUPER PACKAGE, Waves Mercury, slaved iMac and Mac Minis running VEP 7, etc.

+1 on that.

There's no telling when DP8 will appear, but major releases have appeared between 1-2 years apart. It's mostly 2 years, if the pattern of history can be trusted, but I've not seen a major upgrade version of DP turn over with much more than a 2-year interval in between.
DP 7.12 severely rocks. In combination with it, my new (used) Mac Pro, and Amplidood's Sharp mod-- I feel like I have all I could ask for. What I'd like more than anything is smaller incremental refinements and improvements in workflow.

Creativity, some digital stuff and analogue things that go boom. crackle, bits of wood with strings on them that go twang
Check out the great mods. The ones pictured below can be found at THIS LINK. There are even more at iPerformer's website. Be sure to donate to either of them if you choose one of their mods. Modding is an art and a science at the same time. These guys have spent an enormous amount of time doing the work to make this possible. MOTU even made it easier for them without fully endorsing it, but it was obvious they were helping out. So, do the right thing: donate if you want some of their work.
