Re: 10.6.3 Is Out
If I Quicklook several audio/video files together at full screen, and decide I want to hear one of them again, sometimes it won't go back to the one that just finished, and sometimes it just hangs and i have to restart the finder. Exact same files that I've been listening to for months; never a problem before. Never. Restarting the computer fixes it for a while.

Yikes. That is more than annoying... that is a serious issue. Any problem that results in having to restart the computer is a major issue in my books.Shooshie wrote:...sometimes it just hangs and i have to restart the finder. I am now going to hold out on the upgrade, because I have yet to learn of any tangible advantages. Thanks for the heads up.

I just had a weird one where after booting, the mouse would move the cursor, but clicking was unresponsive.
I rebooted and all was well.
I've never experienced that before.

Re: 10.6.3 Is Out
same thing happened to me. I think I unplugged the mouse and maybe it worked again, but I may also have restarted. I remember I was in a conversation with someone at the time, and I wasn't paying much attention to what I was doing. But the bottom line is that the "click" quit working, and it didn't matter which mouse I used.

If any semblance of clarity can come from all of this, it's clear that some issues are not DP related. I've had some questions about key commands in general of late, but I'm increasingly convinced that Apple has taken the "think different" mantra a little too far.
I'm going to hold off on 10.6.3 for now.

Very well put.Frodo wrote:...I'm increasingly convinced that Apple has taken the "think different" mantra a little too far.
And when we can finally switch to 64-bit there will be more bugs and more growing pains. I want it, but I don't.

The whole 64-bit thing will be much more multi-faceted than we can imagine. It will go beyond the notion of just having "this or that" piece of software coded for it.dbender wrote:I want it, but I don't.
Just like it took a while for the concept of AUs and VIs to find a home in DP, so will it take some time before the whole 64-bit dream comes true. Even when it does, I should wonder if it will come true as we've generally imagined it would.
Of course, we all know how things can change without notice. It just makes it so hard for a consumer to plan too far ahead.
It's the caveats we have to look out for.

Indeed we do. Rather like the quotations in your post... I said what he said that I said...Frodo wrote:Of course, we all know how things can change without notice.

Re: 10.6.3 Is Out
I haven't noticed any oddness with 10.6.3 so far, but I really have to put DP through its paces to know for sure. All VIs, GUIs and audio functions with DP seem to be acting normal. If not ... I have my claw hammer at ready.

OK, here's an odd one...
Take a MIDI track.
Assign a synth with a patch list connected.
Go patch column and try to choose a patch (except the first one)
What happens ?
For me, all the patch names go transparent and I see the window behind....
If anyone can confirm this it would be great...

10.6.3 has caused Adobe Illustrator CS2 and CS3 to crash. Adobe is working on it.

Wow. I am so glad that I decided to wait a week and see what my Motunation buddies had to say. This thread has really helped to save me the hassle.waxman wrote:10.6.3 has caused Adobe Illustrator CS2 and CS3 to crash. Adobe is working on it.
It would be different if 10.6.3 offered some great new feature or bug fix that I was desperate for... but it seems like it may introduce more troubles to my workflow than any troubles I would notice that were fixed.
Thanks for the feedback, and sorry for any inconveniences that you folks are facing!
