RESOLVED: still no luck getting DP 7 working
I've tried everything I can find on this forum, and on the Motu Site, but I can't get Dp 7 to load. I install it fine, and then when I go to open a project, it says that the session was created in a newer version of DP.
I have tried reauthorizing a bunch of times:
http://www.motu.com/techsupport/technot ... ix-Leopard" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Just to be clear, I am reauthorizing DP 7
I'm running Snow Leopard, and on dp 6.02 with a quad 2.66.
Any help would be great... I'm running out of hair.

Re-install version DP7, update your mdi/audio drivers to the latest version.
Now... you should be good to go.

Re: still no luck getting DP 7 working
I just installed dp 7.01 on my laptop that has no other versions of dp on it. It's running SL as well. I tried reauthorizing, but I still get the same thing.bjornln wrote:

Are you referring to the MIDI/audio drivers in SL, or my I/O? I'm just using the built in audio on my laptop.

Go to your finder and type Auth-DigitalPerformer 7.0 in the search field and hit the little "+" sign on the upper right of the finder and then click on the "kind" button and scroll down to "other" and a drop down attribute box will appear... pick "file invisible" and then on the button to the right click "invisible items" and you'll see the "Auth-DigitalPerformer 7.0" file in the finder. Trash it and put the DP installer CD in and reauthorize.
Hope this helps.

Yes, I have done that over 10 times, and I get the same error everytime. Is there anything else I can try?newrigel wrote:Go to your finder and type Auth-DigitalPerformer 7.0 in the search field and hit the little "+" sign on the upper right of the finder and then click on the "kind" button and scroll down to "other" and a drop down attribute box will appear... pick "file invisible" and then on the button to the right click "invisible items" and you'll see the "Auth-DigitalPerformer 7.0" file in the finder. Re: still no luck getting DP 7 working
First you say your on a Mac Pro, then you state you installed it on a laptop... which is it because you said you uninstalled 7.1 which if you saved the session in that version since it's the most recent version, you need to use it to open that document no way around it.

Can you create a new session?

Re: still no luck getting DP 7 working
I remember experiencing this a couple of times when I first installed DP 7. There is a bug somewhere. Fortunately, I managed to chase it away somehow.
But there remains an issue with DP 7 which makes it different from previous versions of DP. MOTU somehow missed something, and the latest version of DP does not automatically launch if you double-click on a project file. Even if you double-click on a project file saved in DP 7.1, it will launch DP 7.02 or some earlier version of DP if you have them installed.
If you try to correct this behavior in the "Get Info" dialogue box, by forcing a project to open with DP 7.1, and then "Change All" you will discover that you cannot do it... it will default back to DP 7.02.
Since I never plan on going back to a previous version, I am going to delete all my previous DP versions to eradicate this issue.
Sorry cchord59... this doesn't help you much. Just a little more information.

Not here! The default application will be the most recent install unless you get info and change it there.

This is the first time that hasn't been the case for me.newrigel wrote:Not here! The default application will be the most recent install unless you get info and change it there.

Re: still no luck getting DP 7 working
I presume you have tried this from the MOTU site: http://www.motu.com/techsupport/technot ... issionsFix" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
"This behavior is a result of the authorization file having incorrect file permissions when Digital Performer was installed. To correct this, the authorization file must be deleted, the permissions repaired, and Digital Performer re-authorized."
Permissions can be persnickety.

Re: still no luck getting DP 7 working
Well, that's the fix. If in FACT you NEVER saved the session in 7.1 then you have some other issues. Try reformatting your HD and reinstalling OS X and then DP... if it don't work then, you have a corrupt session document there. I'd try the LOAD command and just get the session @ least to ground zero and start from there.cchord59 wrote:Yes, I have done that over 10 times, and I get the same error everytime. Re: still no luck getting DP 7 working
But I can confirm the behavior described by the OP because it happened to me... and I had never saved my session(s) in 7.1 either, because this took place immediately after installing DP7 and when no later version of DP existed. (Specifically, I think it happened when I first installed 7.0, but none of the updates had yet been released).newrigel wrote:Well, that's the fix. In any case, I am just writing this to say that I don't think reformatting the HD or reinstalling OSX is likely to be necessary. It disappeared for me after only happening a couple of times, and I didn't do anything drastic to resolve it. I would hope for the sake of the OP that there is a simpler solution... but I suppose that if all the recommended fixes have been attempted and nothing is working then maybe this is a case where something more drastic is required.

Sorry for being unclear
I tried installing it on my laptop to test if it would work, and I get the same error message that I get on my tower, and I've never had any other versions of DP on my laptop.
Dp 7 won't work at all. even if I try starting a new session. I don't get an error, but it just won't open. Same on both comps.
