Sampletank 2.0 ongoing issues w/ 4.6

My Specs

Dual 2.0, 2.5GB RAM, MOTU 828 MKII, OSX 10.3.9, DP 4.52. Quicktime 7.01, ST 2.09, SonikSynth 2.0, Amplitube 1.2, T-Racks 1.2, Pro53 3.01(all above running as AU), Plugsound 1 thru 5 MAS , and Waves 5 running as MAS.

For the record, I always run the performance monitor open...

Concerning the Performance Window issues:

GMedia's impOSCar, one of my fav VIs, went ape-sh*t haywire with the Performance Window on. I mean ghost graphics for mousing over anything. I got around it by MIDI-mapping my Radium to it, but it was a pain in the butt. This latest 4.6 / 10.3.9 update fixed that. Yay!

Ok, regarding ST2XL, T Racks, and SS2, I ALSO had graphics problems with mousing over knobs. Ya know the deal, when you mouse over the gain knob in T Racks to adjust by 3dB and it jumps to the maxx and kills your ears. Yup. Big Pain.

Anyway, my problem this time around is that any project with ST2XL and SS2 saved in it will not open. At all. I have no idea how to get it back on track, since following the IK instructions did not help. I'll post this weekend if I come up with anything.

ST 2 will not run with my DP 4.6 either -- in a new project instantiating ST 2XL crashes DP -- even if it's the first action I perfom. Old project with ST 2 crash DP as soon as ST2's window opens... I left a help message for IK; we'll see what they come up with.

G5 2x2, 2.5 Gb RAM, OS X 10.4.2, DP 4.6, 160 Gb internal SATA HD (Apple) for programs etc. + 160 Gb LaCie FW 800 drive holding audio samples, projects. Digi 002 Rack. I have a variety of AU plugins, but like I say, this happens when instatiating ST 2, even as my first action in a new file.

It seems to me that solks on Tiger that are having problems are having crashing as a result. Folk who are runnning in Panther (I'm in 10.3.9) seem o be getting infinite beachball.

So:

Tiger & ST2 = Crash
Pather & ST2 = Infinite Beachball / failure for project to open.

Can we confirm this?

One interesting thing I can add is that after installing 4.6, I get infinite beachball. Of course 4.52 is still on my system as well. Try to load STXL2.09, and I get the same infinite B'ball. Now---I remove DP4.6 and completely re-install 4.52, and all is good again. It seems to point to something "core", that is installed by 4.6, but 4.52 is using as well as 4.6 when both still exist on the same drive.

I have notified MOTU of this interesting clue.

I just got an answer from IK and followed their directions (below). Guess what? IT WORKED!:

Hey, do this below.

Go to HD > library > audio > plug ins > components and delete the sampletank2 / sonik synth file here.

Go to HD > user > name > library > preferences > Ik multimedia and delete the Sampletank2 / Sonik Synth2 folder here.

Now just download and install the latest version and see what happens.
Install the 2.09 only.

You need to log into the user are here https://www.ikstore.com/Login/IKLogin.cgi Here you can get more codes, software updates, etc.
Your username and password will be in the first auth email you would have recieved.

1. Request a new authorization code (Find your serial # and enter the Digital ID beside it, then submit)
2. Submit a support request
3. Download software updates and free contents
4. Edit your personal and product data
5. Customize your UserName/Password

If you no longer have the email and do not know your user info enter your email address at the bottom of the page and it will generate a new one and email it to you. <<<

Already tried it...On 2 separate systems...I noticed the above success story was again on OS 10.42. Maybe Tiger is the answer.

I had the same problem with the beach ball of death the first time I tried to use ST 2XL after upgrading to 4.6. I tried the fix that Jason from IK suggested and it has seemed to fix my problem. I am running OS 10.3.9 on a Dual 1.25 G4 so this would seem to indicate that it is not just a fix for G5's running 10.4. I loaded up a new instance of ST and loaded a patch. Played the patch successfully saved the file, closed out of DP and reopened and all was well. Just thought I would share. Now I'm off to see if I have the spikes folks are talking about with Reason 3.0.3.

Hey guys sorry for the delay.. we have been finishing up the Miroslav Philharmonik Plug ins and now its done! yeah...

Anyone still having problems please email me directly with a brief description of your situation and any system info that you can. I will try to work on it one by one until we can figure it out.

We have so many people that is does work for that there has to be a common problem causeing it.

Did a fresh install of OS10.4.2 (complete wipe of the HD first), then installed DP4.5, and upgraded it to 4.6. Repeairing permissions every step of the way. Loaded ST XL 2.09, and had the same results as my other 2 G5 towers. The only difference is that the project containing an ainsance of ST XL 2.09 would open, but then crash-out immediately after attempting to draw the GUI for ST.

Note that this is XL version.

I then uninstalled all components and preference files of STXL, and tried ST LE 2.081. Loaded fine, ran fine, and re-loaded after closing and re-opening the project. Now, I had no sounds loaded at this time, but...It seems to be a difference between LE and XL as far as DP is concerned. (At least on my system)...

I had no problems at all when I first tried Sonik Synth (Free) - the GUI functioned fine and there were no crashes. Once I bought & installed SS2 full version tho, I had all sortsa problems with the GUI, etc.

Doesn't make sense.

Clearly there is a diffence between FREE and LE versions vs. the XL version or FULL version that is causing these problems for some users.

Bk. did you ever dump the SS free stuff?
I dunno, I may have the MX4 bug(in the good way) LOL Cronox3 is mighty fine too.

Well, I did want to move to 4.5/6, but MOTU lost its distributor here in Oz, then it took absolutely 4ever for them to set up a new one, then I got tired of waiting for my retailer to get stock and I cancelled my order. Now I'm broke!

And, yes, I got rid of the SS free and re-scanned all my AU's.

DP 4.6, G5 2.7, 10.4.2, no problems at all with SS2 or ST2. These aren't the XL versions. I've only used them in a V-Rack though. I haven't tried using them in an Instrument track in a sequence's Mixer. Save, Quit, Open works fine.
