New drivers - 64fw-3.7.39083.zip
Hi
Just a heads up. Bit loathed to install, I have a few niggles but by and large my Ultralite + W7 x64 setup is working very nice.
Anyone have any ideas as to what issues these address? As usual it's the MOTU black hole when it comes to information for drivers.

I had the same concerns. I have been running windows xp 32bit, MK3 Hybrid with USB on an ICH8 controller smoothly. I literally just installed the new drivers 10 minutes ago. All seems to be going smoothly so far.

I installed the driver on Win7 X64 an I have no sound on any Application like the driver-versions before.

Hi Cicatrix
Do you know what has changed or what issues the new driver has addressed?
Thanks

I do not know exactly what issues the new drivers address. I know that there is alot of speculation that the previous drivers do not work with ICH9 or ICH10 USB host controllers, so hopefully that is an included fix in this driver update. The laptop I am using the MK3-Hybrid on now uses an ICH8 USB host controller. I am going to set it up on my other laptop that has an ICH9 USB host controller to see if it works. I haven't played around enough with this new driver to see how solid it is. I might start saving to get a FireFace UC. What happens when I have a laptop that doesn't have just the right stuff for the MK3 to work right?

Re: New drivers - 64fw-3.7.39083.zip
Ok, I'm not sure if it's this new driver, but now Sonar is crashing at least a few times every hour. Very frustrating. I am going to re-install the older driver and see if Sonar still crashes. It could be a corrupt plugin. Hopefully that's all it is but knowing MOTU I doubt it. I also deleted the aud.ini file in Sonar, and ran wave profiler. No luck.

Re: New drivers - 64fw-3.7.39083.zip
I'm pretty sure it's the driver of the MOTU now. When Sonar crashes and I end the program with task manager the only way I can re open sonar is by restarting the computer, or turning off the MK3-Hybrid.

The new drivers (3.7.39083) seem to work fine for me. My setup is Windows XP 32-bit, Motu 828 MkII USB. 96 kHz sample rate, 384 samples per buffer seems to be ok, at least with Reason or Ableton Live (using ASIO with both). 256 samples per buffer was not stable for me.
Have to do more testing, but this is how it looks after couple of hours.

I don't have anything about ICH9 or ICH10 on my Win7 64-bit HP laptop only Intel(R) 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset Family USB Enhanced Host Controller - 3B34.
Anyone know if that is likely to work with a Hybrid?

Had the Hybrid delivered today and Sonar says 'No MOTU device could be found. Make sure your MOTU Audio device is connected, powered on, and that the drivers are installed.' 'There are no Audio devices for the current driver model on your system.'Mus wrote:I don't have anything about ICH9 or ICH10 on my Win7 64-bit HP laptop only Intel(R) 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset Family USB Enhanced Host Controller - 3B34.

I assume this is a bad sign. What do I do, send it back?
Any other drivers I can use?

Re: New drivers - 64fw-3.7.39083.zip
Since updating to the new driver (32-bit version), I've had a bunch of problems with Cycling '74's MaxMSP. There's something about the way the new driver is registered in the preferences files for Max that causes the program to crash when you have used the MOTU driver. The driver works the first time, but when you quit, you can't relaunch the program until you trash the preference file. The previous version of the MOTU driver worked fine, and other FireWire drivers work fine, just not this newest version.

That's what I did, I sent the MK3 Hybrid back. As soon as MOTU gave me the run around, then basically hung up the phone on me when I called to resolve a problem, that was it. I am tired of the bullsh••, seriously. I am saving up for a Fireface UC and I am never coming back. It sucks really bad a lot of people are having problems. Currently I am out an interface but in the long run I think it will be worth it. I'll let ya know.
Re: New drivers - 64fw-3.7.39083.zip
Got some advice from the Sonar forum: 'Right click on each USB Root Hub entry (in Device Manager)... and make sure to uncheck (turn off) "Allow computer to turn off this device to save power" 'Mus wrote:Had the Hybrid delivered today and Sonar says 'No MOTU device could be found. The Mk3 now works so I'll continue to test.
I would have thought that this is something a MOTU-dedicated forum would know?
Also does anyone know if the user manual is online. I'm not breaking open the packaging in case I still have to return it.

Two things:Mus wrote: I would have thought that this is something a MOTU-dedicated forum would know?
1) This is not a company run forum. You probably knew that.
2) This is primarily a Mac-oriented board for Digital Performer users. It was conceived and started as such. The Windows areas were added by me (even though I'm a Mac user) as a courtesy to those on Windows, but I make no guarantees or representations as to what sort of information you'll get here.

OK, fair enough James. I didn't know that and I'll bear it in mind...James Steele wrote:Two things:Mus wrote: I would have thought that this is something a MOTU-dedicated forum would know?
