Tascam TM-D1000 with 2408 - Sync Issues

I'm trying to use my Tascam digital mixer via TDIF along with my 2408mk3. I have plugged in my TDIF cable, as well as my SPDIF cable for the clock. But it still will not sync. I have played around with the clock source settings on the control panel, but something does not seem right. Does anyone have experience connecting a digital mixer to their MOTU system?
