MOTU Mk3 Hybrid (troubles)

Post by Lenzo12 »

Hi all,

I bought the MOTU Mk3 Hybrid, installed and tested !
My version is extern card plugged with USB2 !
Driver version of hardware card v1.02
Windows Xp 32 bits.

I got several problems with it !

Image

- Sometimes with Cubase when i try to change the buffer and to open the smpt control, my computer freeze and im oblige to make a hard reboot !!! (my cubase is clean !)

- I thought it was about drivers, i installed the drivers "32fw-3.7.37320.zip" (motu.com)
and i decided to download the "UltraLite_v1_15-Win32.zip" (motu.com)
When i launch this application i got the following message :

" There are no devices in update state. Please turn on the device while holding down the PAGE and CURSOR knobs"

I tried that .... but no progress in the update .... Moreover i dont have CURSOR button like specified in this message .....

Please HELP.
I bought that card 450 euros and when it works its great, just wanna FIX that problem !!!
THX A LOT ;) ;) ;) ;)

From the MOTU download site.
This update does not apply to UltraLite mk3s.
So it probably applies to the Hybrid as well since that is effectively the MkIV.

don't have Sonar so I cannot help you with that one.

What generation of USB 2.0 controler do you have?

Look under USB in device manager. It will be ICHnn where nn is an integer.

Conclusion :

I use now the firewire connection and its all OK !!!!!!
Its workfs perfectly !!!

With PC if you got problem of freeze and crash with your MOTU MK3 Hybrid, its totally due to USB connection !!! Use firewire and this will fix your problem !!!

Give you joy of it man. :D

Good bit of kit when it works isn't it?

Please don't forget to keep a MOTU TechLink open regarding the USB. Otherwise they may not get round to fixing it and it's possible you will need it in tyhe future.

What chipset is on your firewire adapter?

I've tried VIA and LSI chipset and this does not seem to work too good. I've heard that Texas Instrument is better so I'm getting one of those and will try it out as soon as possible.
