I found this iPhone App called "AC-7Control" which sends MIDI messages over wifi to your computer. My goal is to control basic transport functions in DP (play, stop, record) in another room of my house with my iPhone. I am recording myself doing vocals in the kitchen of my apartment, but my setup is in a room on the other side of the apartment. Right now I am running back and forth between the kitchen and the studio room everytime I do a take, and I am trying to avoid that.
Anyway, I found this iPhone app that should do the trick. Supposedly it works in Logic and Abelton, but I have yet to get it to work in DP. You have to use a third party software to receive MIDI transmission on your computer called dsmidwifi. I have everything set up properly. In fact I am receiving MIDI messages in DP when i trigger the iphone app. A light lights up in the MIDI Monitor Window. In the key commands window, I can even get a registered MIDI note to show up when assigning a MIDI note to each button of the transport. But... the app still doesn't trigger the transport to start.
Has anyone tried this? Maybe I just don't know the in's and out's of setting up a MIDI control surface, I have never used one before. Anyone have any tips. Anything I am missing? It would be pretty cool to get this to work.
Using AC-7C Iphone App to control DP over Wifi

Another alternative is to use an app called NumberKey, which turns your iPhone into a numeric keypad, and therefore controls the standard transport controls in DP. Nice and simple, and works brilliantly.

Re: Using AC-7C Iphone App to control DP over Wifi
I have been in close contact with the author of AC-7 and he also is working on an iPad version. How did you connect up DP to DSMIDIWiFi? This is very difficult right now and I had given up, although the author, Colin, sent me some instructions. I will see if I can find them.
Part of the issue is DP's current inability to see virtual MIDI ports and USB class compliant devices without first creating a dummy device in AMS. I have brought this up with some people I know over at MOTU and I have been told they are going going to address this soon.
Do you have a laptop you can use in the meantime? I have remote controlled my DAW using VnC on my iBook and it works well for me. I have found the best responsiveness comes by using the VineServer and VineViewer combo by Redstone Software. It performed BETTER than Apple's built in capability in my experience.
