I can’t get Steinberg Cubase 4.5.2 (64 bit) to LOCK onto the video signal and record audio and am looking for suggestions.
My setup follows. The TC Out and the Video Out (composite signal) on my Panasonic AG HPX300 camcorder are connected respectively to the #8 TRS Analog In and the Word In on my MOTU 1224 core unit. I am using a MOTU 424 PCIe card with updated driver. The MOTU PCI Audio Console is set to a Clock Source of PCI-424 SMPTE and Interface 1224. The MOTU PCI SMPTE Console is set to a SMPTE Source of Analog-8 and Clock/Address of PCI-SMPTE/SMPTE and Frame Rate of 29.97 drps. Within Cubase 4.5.2, VST Audio System is set to MOTU PCI ASIO Driver, Project Setup is set to Frame Rate of 29.97 dfps and Sample Rate of 48,000. Project Synchronization Setup is set to ASIO Audio Device.
When the Transport Panel set to SYNC External and the Red record button is pressed, the system goes into the ready/waiting state - TC from the camcorder runs correctly on the Transport Panel (and also on the MOTU PCI SMPTE Console) and the SYNC Indicator on the Transport Panel indicates “Sync.” But when the Play button or the record button on the camcorder is pressed to initiate audio recording, the SYNC indicator does not go to LOCK and Cubase will not record.
Any suggestions to get this setup to LOCK and record? (Note: I have tried routing via a MOTU MIDI Timepiece AV with no success and have been considering trying a MOTU 2408mk3. Would a MOTU 2408mk3 work?)
Locking Cubase onto Video thru MOTU 1224 & 424?
