Demo Reel 2010

Post by Mr. Quimper »

What the heck, may as well post my current demo reel. I cut the video together and made the primitive "animation" intro and provided pretty much everything you hear except for the production sound on Contingency and the music on Wood Diary (the awesome Jason Molina handled that!)

Feel free to tear it apart, i.e., criticism is welcomed:

I'm still basically a fresh-out-of college inexperienced type, so keep that in mind. :P

The overall mix, music, and most of the sound editing was done in DP; some Pro Tools here and there and the video was cut in Final Cut.

Nice job Eric but the priest (or whatever he is) dialog could use a bit of tightening up around 1:32.

Yeah, I noticed that as well; no one seems to be able to get it to sit quite right. The original final production that I heard had someone else dialogue edit/mix my production audio and it seemed off as well for some reason. I nudged it around in my demo reel mix but it's still not quite there. I'll probably play with it some more at a later date.

Thanks for listening!

No problem! I have converted QT to .wmv files before and had instant out of sync dialog... I have NO idea why it does it because I'm staying @ the same codecs sample rates etc. and for some reason .wmv's drift when exported from QT.

It's stayed in QT as far as I know (I don't know what format Vimeo uses: FLV?) I assume it was something that happened when it was originally brought into Avid or during the picture edit. It seems like it's only a frame or two off so it shouldn't be a huge deal to nudge it into to place with a few more attempts.
