Amplitube Live 2 - New AudioMIDI no-brainer deal
Hi all,
The new no-brainer on audiomidi.com is Amplitube Live:
http://www.audiomidi.com/AmpliTube-2-Li ... ID=3142806&" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Not sure whether I will bother, since I will be upgrading to DP7 eventually, and there are all kinds of guitar processing tools in the current version. And heck, I'm not even a guitar guy.
Does anyone have both Amplitube Live and DP7, and find both a nice combination? Or do these completely overlap?
Either way, enjoy the link!
- Matt

I'm not a real guitarist but I saw your post and bought it. Audiomidi.com is fifteen dollaring me to death, what with Ultra Analog and now this, both great deals. I like this better than DP's git stuff. Custom 59 doesn't move me. Maybe use the Live Room thingy after this amp sim. Thanks for the link.

That is a no-brainer price, but I see that IK has recently listed Amplitube 3 for pre-order, so the "2" line is going to be outdated soon. Check to see if purchase and registration of version 2 would put you on the upgrade path for pricing version 3 though.

My principal instrument is guitar. I recently bought Guitar Rig Session, so I'll compare that the DP 7 guitar tools...
IMO, the Guitar Rig user interface is a little easier to deal with (all in one window) than making strings of plug-ins on the channel inserts the way DP7 works it. OTOH, I've been able to work up similar tones with either method, so the DP7 stuff does achieve the sounds, just the method is a little different. My version of Guitar Rig doesn't have the "control room", just the simpler "matched cabinet"; I find DP7's Live Room G to be more versatile and better sounding.
The DP7 guitar stuff seems a little less touch-sensitive to variations in playing technique than a real amp or the Guitar Rig amps.

Re: Amplitube Live 2 - New AudioMIDI no-brainer deal
I have Amplitube-everything. I also have Guitar Rig 3 and DP 7. I find I just use the Amplitube stuff. It sounds the most "real" to me. GR3 sounds kind of plastic to me, not so warm. I'm told GR4 is much better but after the Komplete 5 fiasco and discontinuation of B4 II, I'm done giving NI money. They're dead to me. DP7 stuff only runs in DP7. I don't use DAW specific plugs on principle because I don't use DP for live playing, only recording/mixing.
Amplitube-Live might as well be called Amplitube-Lite. It is basically a subset of Amplitube-2. For the meat and potatoes guitar sounds it covers the bases. At $15 its a steal.
Be aware that Amplitube 3 is expected out RSN.

WOW! this sounds really excellent. Simple straightforward rockin. Better then gearbox IMHO (except the verb spring isn't as good). Its a stupid good deal.

I tend to agree. A3 is on its way, and there's no reason to suspect that Guitar Rig won't eventually be updated to the same effect.Billster wrote:That is a no-brainer price, but I see that IK has recently listed Amplitube 3 for pre-order, so the "2" line is going to be outdated soon.
The attractive special may be for those who do not have A2 or GR2 but have been meaning to get into it, but I'm going to wait for A3 (and GR3). I think it will be more cost-effective for me in the long term.

I preordered A3 a couple of weeks ago, which is due out in the not too distant future, so it makes sense that the v2 line is coming close to EOL, hence this deal.Frodo wrote:I tend to agree.
