Need help setting up an effect on 828mk3

Post by ft13 »

So i have a rackmount BBE Sonic Maximizer and i cant seem to hook it up properly as a send effect on the 828mk3.

Here is what the back of the Sonic Maximizer looks like:

Now, if i simply do 1 instrument, say, my MC-808, all i do is go from the L/Mono out to the Channel A Input, then Channel A Output to one of the 2 front inputs on the 828mk3, the MC-808 works completely fine in conjunction with the Sonic Maximizer.

I simply want to use it on all my gear, so obviously setting it up as a send effect would benefit me greatly instead of unplugging/plugging in every single instrument i want to use it with.

Anyone know how i could do this?

Thanks!

Are you trying to use this with the Cuemix FX or with your recording software? I use Cubase SX3 and within it all you have to do is set up the right external sends and returns in the VST connections labeled External effects. For example, I use Analog 7-8 outputs on the Motu 828Mk3 and then choose whatever inputs I want to bring it back in. Then in the Cubase mixer I select External effect on whatever channel I'm wanting to use this on, which is a lot of times the main outs channel or a sub-group I've created.
As far as using the Sonic Maximizer with the Cuemix FX program it would basically work the same way but IMO would be a waste of time as Cuemix already has compression built into it that could be used and whatever individual channel or group output that you want.
Good luck,
Billy
