Has anyone tried the PSP sQuad bundle that they're offering for $99 until January 18? http://www.PSPaudioware.com/plugins/squad.html. It includes six different EQ plug-ins. I like their other stuff a lot.

I just did. It's cool, but for me between DP's MWEQ and URS CSP I'm covered. There is a demo available from PSP so check it out for yourself!Yawnstrosity wrote:Has anyone tried the PSP sQuad bundle that they're offering for $99 until January 18? http://www.PSPaudioware.com/plugins/squad.html. I love these EQs, as there is enough choice and color for almost any situation. PSP just added the McQ EQ as well (for free!).Yawnstrosity wrote:Has anyone tried the PSP sQuad bundle that they're offering for $99 until January 18? http://www.PSPaudioware.com/plugins/squad.html. Re: Recommend a good 3rd party parametric EQ
There is something about Stillwell Vibe that I really dig... it just has the right...Vibe to it. When MW EQ isn't surgically doing it for me, I turn to UAD Pultec or the Vibe. Most of the times Vibe just fit the bill.Kubi wrote:My most used EQs are Stillwell Vibe EQ, Stillwell 1973, Sonalksis SV517mk2, Uhbik Q.
I also just got the DDMF IIEQ Pro and LP10, the former a 10-band track EQ, the latter a 10 band filter where each band can be set to be either linear phase or minimum phase. Both plugs very nice on first try, haven't really put them through the paces yet. DDMF lets you determine how much you want to pay.
Kubi , are there the dreaded GUI issues presitent w/ Vibe like the rocket? I can only use the scroll wheel to turn Vibey knobs

I also tried DDMF a while ago, and it really is CPU hungry.

The plug's GUI works no problem for me. Only the Mac keyboard stops functioning as a transport controller for DP when the Stillwell GUI is active. So it's a bit of a nuisance, but the knobs etc work no problem.
Be sure you have downloaded the latest version from Stillwellaudio.com, Scott has updated a few times after Snow Leo/DP7 were introduced. (They are labeled as betas, I think.)

Re: Recommend a good 3rd party parametric EQ
Softube just announced their Trident A-Range EQ emulation, which many are saying is more accurate than the UAD version, due to how Softube emulates individual circuits in their modeling approach.
I just received the email today, with links for the demo download. I'm wondering if anyone has tried it yet, and at what stage of tracking, submixing, mixing, or mastering the Trident is most famous for, and which specific applications (vocals, drums, etc.)?

It's a channel EQ, and it ain't polite, so it's mostly for EQing individual tracks.

Softube Trident is really nice though.
For a true utility parametric I still love Metric Halo's Channelstrip!
Also like MW EQ and The Oxford EQ.
For linear Phase I go to Waves and sometime IK Multimedia.

Re: Recommend a good 3rd party parametric EQ
A Pultec is surgical? Cambridge is surgical if you want precision or even the precision EQ but the Pultec is more of a character EQ IMO. Believe it or not, the EX1 in a blind shootout beat most EQ's on blind test on GS ( I was blown away too)... they are hard to get used to if your new to them but they can sound good too. I think what's most important is knowing the EQ's controls and how they effect the sound. Every EQ is different and to say there's one great EQ is BS because they all have different slopes written within the code and you have to really know how to get it out of each EQ's control surface... that's the key. Some EQ's are easier to get to what your after than others but knowing the EQ and it's characteristics can yield great results.Tonio wrote:When MW EQ isn't surgically doing it for me, I turn to UAD Pultec or the Vibe. Re: Recommend a good 3rd party parametric EQ
I used to use Masterworks EQ all the time but my Fabfilter Pro-Q has taken over most of it's duties recently (mostly cutting frequencies and filtering).. Thats not taking anything away from the MW though, as it's excellent..
For boosting i use Nomad Factory EQ's alot (especially pultec and british ones), Stillwell's Vibe EQ and 1973, Uhbik-Q. I really liked the demo of the Voxengo Gliss EQ and will buy it some time.
For Mastering (but some mixing also) I often use the Nugen SEQ1M.. It can be a bit fiddly and is a processor hog on it's higher quality settings but i like the way it sounds..
