Lower & Upper split sounds question

Post by bell222 »

I was wondering how to configure a split lower and upper sounds. For example, I would like to have a choir on the top half of my keyboard using Kontakt and a cool synth on the lower half of the keyboard using Reaktor. Is this possible in DP7? How can I do this? Is it a MIDI channel assignment in DP itself?

Hi,

Its slightly complicated but you can use an excellent freeware app called Midipipe.

http://web.mac.com/nicowald/SubtleSoft/MidiPipe.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

In midipipe route your controller in, use a keyboard splitter to get the desired ranges to 2 different channels out (eg. midipipe out ch1, midipipe out ch2) then in DP have multirecord turned on and set the inputs to the desired instruments' tracks to the midipipe outs. After you're done make sure you quit or bypass MIDI pipe when switching out of multirecord or you might get doubled input into DP. Hope this helps.
